As a young child I loved to create. Whether it was glueing and sticking, drawing or painting I was happy. As I got older I learnt to sew by watching my Mum and loved anything to do with fashion and costume. I was obsessed with Vogue magazine and any programmes about fashion.

After leaving art school I then went on to study Theatre Costume and have pursued a successful career over the last twenty plus years working as a Milliner and Costume Prop Maker in house and freelance for many different theatres. However I have always had a longing to design and create my own millinery. My theatrical career involves bringing costume designers ideas to life which I love and although I have an input into this I have always longed to produce my own headpieces to sell.

​

So towards the end of 2012 and with a massive change in circumstances I took the plunge and started my own millinery business - 'Alison Mary Millinery'. Using my many years of experience in millinery I set about creating bridal headpieces and hats that were unique and different to what was already on the market.

 

Gathering influences from period costume, nature, art, textiles, colours and embellishments has helped me to design pieces that are beautifully unique, exquisitely hand made and always stylish. I pride myself on the high standards I set myself, working within deadlines and budgets but never comprising on quality. Nothing leaves my studio unless it is absolutely perfect. I offer a very professional, friendly, reliable, relaxed and personable experience where my only aim is to offer the best in customer service. 

 

I love coming up with new designs for brides or hats for a special occasion and nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing a customer wearing one of my pieces.
